It was noon and the white sand beneath my feet was searing hot. I was standing up on top of my usual hill, forge gun in hand watching the battle rage beneath me. ground was gained and lost men died and were killed, the hours were long and life was boring.
I had adorned myself in with my trusty forge gun to destroy a tank and with it gone I had nothing to do. beads of sweat slid down my face as i watched them fighting below me. it was a slow battle indeed and rather evenly matched. occasionally an enemy would notice me and that was a welcome reprieve from the endless watching. adrenalin surged through my veins starring at the lone soldier approach me. well out of his range I depressed the trigger of my forge gun. it started bucked in my hands and sending off bolts of lighting like Zeus himself. I struggled to control it but it was like trying to tame an angry bull. eventually it came under control and I carefully aimed it just below this brave soldiers feet who undaunted at this display had continued up the hill. calmly and slowly I released the trigger. I only had one shot so it had to count. the round stayed true and hit it's mark. the nameless soldier's body was sent flying out of the black and blue cloud of plasma. quickly I looked around it seemed our exchange had gone unnoticed and my position remained compromised, no logi would come to help the soldier and all that remained of him was a blood stain on the sand.
I was slightly saddened when I realized that it was back to the old grind and like the batman atop his gargoyle I went back to my vantage point to watch the end of the battle. then out of thin air a shimmering spectre appeared, it bore no markings and carried a single LAV. decloaking before my eyes it was revealed to be of my enemies calling. the LAV wasn't a big ticket item but there was only minute or two left in the match and I was bored. I charged up my forge, as the plasma superheated I saw enemy soldiers grouping up to board it unaware of their extreme misfortune. it was ready. my present charged I unleashed it. just then the RDV tilted and took the full impact of my blast. undeterred or unaware the trio continued toward the LAV. the fools. I charge a second round and after a short while was ready. they were just boarding up and my opportunity was clear, fate had smiled upon me this match. this time I did not miss, the LAV bloomed in the most beautiful assortment of colors my war ravenged eyes had seen in a longwhile. bodies were sent meters from the crater where their LAV used to be. satisfied with my kill I watched the nanites remove the shell of the LAV from the field. the match ended just then. had I gotten the final kills? I still don't know, but I like to think I did.
